I’m writing my C-grade sociology essay soon. The subject is the reading habits of people in three different groups of income. Essays of this magnitude are always a bit of hassle. It’s fascinating stuff, really, and it’s what I want to do. I already have general idea of what I’m going to write about. The vexing part is that the essays got to include two different surveys. The paper must include one deep interview sort of thing with a people (in my case probably six persons) and one big quantitative style survey. The last one I don’t care for at all. It’s a hassle and quite boring actually to first put together a reliable questionnaire not to speak about getting it out to enough people. Therefore I’m considering the use of some ready-made survey tools. It would save me a whole lot of time I can put to infinitely better use. My feeling’s always been that a large survey, even the ever so well executed one, is pretty useless if you don’t have the time or means to do a proper analysis and put the results into the right context.
